Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.179(j)(2): Frequent inspection. The following items [29 CFR 1910.179(j)(2)(i) to 29 CFR 1910.179(j)(2)(vii)] shall be inspected for defects at intervals as defined in paragraph (j)(1)(ii) of this section or as specifically indicated, including observation during operation for any defects which might appear between regular inspections. All deficiencies such as listed shall be carefully examined and determination made as to whether they constitute a safety hazard: 101 North Main Street, Newark, Illinois, west building shop, 5 Ton overhead bridge crane: on or about May 4, 2017, daily inspection for the pendant controller was not performed to discover damage to its enclosure and flexible cable. Employees using pendant controller to move loads (e.g. tail gates) were exposed to swinging load struck-by hazards. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirement of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
