29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: A.) On or about April 5, 2017 at 23-55 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106 An employee was observed using a Biro Mfg. vertical band saw inside of the basement meat preparation room to cut beef into sections. The machine's blade guard was positioned approximately eight (8) inches above the table surface with the height of the meat measuring to be two (2) inches. The exposed unused blade portion measured at six (6) inches exposed the employee to amputation hazards. B.) On or about September 1, 2017 at 23-55 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106 An employee was observed using a Biro Mfg. vertical band saw inside of the 1st floor meat preparation room to cut goat meat into sections. The machine's blade guard was positioned approximately six (6) inches above the table surface with the height of the meat measuring approximately be three (3) inches. The exposed unused blade portion measured at three (3) inches. CRESCENT FOOD CORP. DBA TRADE FAIR SUPERMARKET WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD 1910.212(a)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 907084, CITATION NUMBER 01, ITEM NUMBER 004 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON 10/23/2014, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 23-55 BROADWAY, ASTORIA, NY 11106. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19
