Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(i): Lift controls shall be tested each day prior to use to determine that such controls are in safe working condition. Identity Services LLC, Geneva Commons job site: on or about February 3, 2017, employee(s) operating an Elliott HI Reach model ECL 3 55 CH were exposed to injury as the employer failed to ensure safe working conditions of the aerial lift through daily control tests. Employee(s) were working from the aerial lift's platform (basket) at heights while operating the lift's upper controls with a bypassed redundant safety device (foot pedal), and illegible and mislabeled controls. Employees were exposed to hazards associated with unintended activation of lift's upper operating controls likely to result in death or serious injury. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
