Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.601(b)(4): The employer had in use motor vehicle equipment having an obstructed view to the rear which did not have a reverse signal alarm audible above the surrounding noise level or an observer signaling it was safe to back up the vehicle: The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by hazards associated with moving vehicles when assisting in the installation and set -p of a natural gas booster compressor. This was most recently documented on or about December 13, 2016, at the Colt Energy Incorporated jobsite located between 22000 and 23000 Labette County Road and Brown Road Cherryvale, Kansas, where a 3500 Chevrolet 1-Ton Duramax Diesel 2015 truck, having obstructed view to the rear, was in use and was not equipped with an audible backup alarm exposing employees to struck-by hazards. An observer was not provided to signal when it was safe to back up the vehicle.
