Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:

29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open-sided floors and/or platforms four feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded with standard railings (or equivalent) and toe boards: a) On or about August 23, 2016 and times prior at the sizer line elevated walkways; fall hazard: The employer failed to ensure employees had proper equipment to reach product from the conveyor belt without leaning their body half way through the top and mid rails exposing employees to fall hazards of 4 feet 4 inches to the concrete floor. b) On or about August 23, 2016 and times prior at the sizer line #1 elevated walkway; fall hazard: The employer failed to ensure proper mid-rail chains were maintained which allowed employees to walk past an access point missing the mid-rail chain exposing employees to fall hazards of 4 feet 4 inches to the concrete floor. c) On or about August 23, 2016 and times prior at the sizer line elevated walkways; fall hazard: The employer failed to ensure proper mid-rail chains were maintained at the ends of platforms with a fixed ladder installed which allowed employees to walk/work/stand near the end which had missing mid-rail chains, exposing employees to fall hazards of 4 feet 4 inches to the concrete floor.
