29 CFR 1926.602(c)(1)(vi): Industrial truck(s) in use did not meet the applicable requirements of design, construction, stability, inspection, testing, maintenance, and operation, as defined in American National Standards Institute B56.1-1969, Safety Standards for Powered Industrial Trucks. a) Moses B. Glick, LLC - On or about August 8, 2016, the employer did not ensure that an employee operating forklifts placed the load engaging means into a fully lowered position, ensured that the controls were neutralized, and the brakes were set to prevent movement. Abatement Note: Among other feasible means of abatement, the employer may follow the guidance under ANSI / ITSDF 56.1 - 2012, Section 5.2.12, which states: a) Before leaving the operators position 1) Bring the truck to a complete stop 2) Place directional controls in neutral 3) Apply the parking brake 4) Lower the load engaging means fully unless supporting an elevated platform b) When leaving the truck unattended 1) Stop the engine or turn off the controls 2) If the truck must be left on an incline, block the wheels 3) Fully lower the load engaging means
