29 CFR 1926.1101(i)(1):The employer shall provide and require the use of protective clothing, such as coveralls or similar whole-body clothing, head coverings, gloves, and foot coverings for any employee exposed to airborne concentrations of asbestos that exceed the time-weighted average (TWA) and/or excursion limit prescribed in paragraph (c) of this section, or for which a required negative exposure assessment is not produced, or for any employee performing Class I operations which involve the removal of over 25 linear or 10 square feet of thermal system insulation (TSI) or surfacing asbestos containing material (ACM) and presumed asbestos containing material (PACM). On or about July 6, 2016, an employee working at the site of Exelon Power Plant located in Morris, IL was exposed to asbestos containing material while encapsulating piping containing thermal system insulation and the employer did not ensure protective clothing, such as coveralls or similar whole-body clothing, and foot coverings had been worn when a negative-exposure assessment had not been conducted. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
