Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: GUARDING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to death or serious physical harm from moving parts of a lift truck: (a)Frozen Repack Plant - An employee, sanitizing walls while standing on a platform supported by the forks of a lift truck, was exposed to unguarded chain and sprockets and moving mast parts adjacent to the platform, as occurred June 27, 1998. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to utilize a scissors lift or an aerial, basket type lift.
