29 CFR 1910.1001(k)(8): The employer cleaned up waste and debris and accompanying dust in an area containing accessible or visibly deteriorated ACM and/or PACM, by dry dusting, dry sweeping or vacuuming without using high-efficiency particulate air filters: (a) On or about June 3, 2016 in the rear vestibule and workroom floor, the custodian/ housekeeping employee was cleaning damaged and broken mastic and tile which contained 15% chrysotile asbestos. The employee had used dry sweeping to clean the area with the damaged and broken mastic and tile, exposing the employee to inhalation hazards. The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.1001(k)(8) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 965760, citation number 1, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on January 14, 2015 with respect to a workplace located at 3450 State Road 26 East, Lafayette, IN 47901.
