29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): (a) On or about July 7, 2016, the employer failed to assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees working throughout the facility are exposed to hazards including but not limited to; skin, eye, and respiratory hazards from handling and spraying chemical irritants including, but not limited to Elgen Water Based Liner Adhesive, Capital Hardware Elgen 100% Silicone Sealant and Adhesive, Elgen Duct Sealer, 10555 Spiral Lube QD, and OEM/Mechanical - CT10101-5 insulation material, flying object hazards in spraying cutting, fastening and grinding operations, amputation and laceration hazards in operating machines and handling sheet metal and products, and flash burn hazards in cutting and welding operations. Abatement certification is required for this item; use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose.
