Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard due to being caught in the rotating tail pulley and belt when cleaning the belt conveyor while the belt conveyor is in motion: a) Asico Unit - The tail pulley was not provided with a guard to prevent employee contact with rotating belt and tail pulley when cleaning the belt conveyor while the belt conveyor is in motion. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: 1. Provide a guard for the tail pulley of the belt conveyor.
