29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(c). The employer had not complied with the provisions of 29 CFR 1926.652(b)(1)(i) The employer is failing to protect employees from cave-in hazards associated with trenches. This was most recently documented on or about 1 March 2016 at the 700 block of Main Street, Hays, Kansas when employees were working in an unprotected 11 feet deep trench while performing emergency sewer line repairs.
