Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to amputations where the gates where not provided interlocks to prevent them from being opened when the elevator is in service, in the following locations: a.At the Demag Elevator, southwest side, first level. b.At the Demag Elevator, southwest side, second level. c.At the Demag Elevator, southwest side, third level. Among other means, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to equip all elevator doors with interlocks, in accordance with ANSI A17.1 - 1993, Rule 204.4(b).e
