Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: Employees were exposed to the hazard of falling/tripping into the elevator car causing an employee a fall to the floor and being crushed on the floor/wall by the cargo being loaded. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: 1. Repair/replace elevator car platform with a non perforated floor to extend over the entire area within the car enclosure. 2. The floor shall be designed to withstand the forces developed under the loading conditions for which the elevator is designed and installed.
