29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit route(s) were not kept free and unobstructed: (a) Worksite, Terminal Office, north side of building - The exit access leading to the exit door in the dispatch area of the terminal office was obstructed and blocked by a trashcan and three cardboard file boxes. The width of the exit route was reduced from 36" wide down to 19" wide. This condition existed while employees occupied the terminal office on, or about February 5, 2015. (b) Worksite, Mechanic Shop, northwest corner - The exit access leading to the exit door in the parts department was obstructed by multiple cardboard boxes containing vehicle repair parts, which were placed along the floor and on an adjacent shelf unit. The width of the exit route was reduced from 36" wide down to 34" wide. This condition existed while employees occupied the maintenance shop on, or about February 5, 2015. (c) Worksite, Mechanic Shop, east side of building - The exit access leading to the exit door adjacent the chemical storage area was obstructed by a tire changing machine, which was located approximately 27" away from the adjacent wall and in the exit route path. This condition existed while employees occupied the maintenance shop on, or about February 5, 2015. Note: Abatement for this violation was previously documented; therefore, the employer is not required to submit abatement certification or documentation for this violation in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
