Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employer failed to ensure interior finish on walls and ceiling of exits and of enclosed corridors furnishing access thereto or way of travel there from shall be of a Class A or B in accordance with NFPA 101-1985 Life Safety Code, Section 27.3.3.1. a) Peachtree 25th Building - 6the floor South Tower - The interior finish on the corridor wall (the only access to egress on the 6th floor) was not a Class A or B in that there were layers of wall covering with a total thickness greater than1/28". Feasible and acceptable method of abatement, includes but is not limited to ensuring that corridor walls are stripped of existing wall covering before applying new wall covering.
