29 CFR 1926.251(c)(1): Employers must not use improved plow-steel wire rope and wire-rope slings with loads in excess of the rated capacities (i.e., working load limits) indicated on the sling by permanently affixed and legible identification markings prescribed by the manufacturer: a. On December 10, 2014, on a barge, a 3/4-inch wire rope sling was used to suspend a load which exceeded the rated capacity indicated on the sling, exposing employees to a struck-by hazard.
