Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open-sided floors and/or platforms four feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded with standard railings (or equivalent) and toeboards: The employer does not ensure that employees working above 4 feet are provided with fall protection. a) This violation was observed on or about November 25, 2014 in the structures department at the facility, employees were exposed to a fall of approximately 11 while working on top of a large industrial air conditioner exchanger. b) This violation was observed on or about December 8, 2014 in the structures department at the facility, employees were exposed to a fall of approximately 6 while working on top of a large industrial air conditioner metal frame. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure employees exposed to fall hazards of 4 feet or more are protected.
