29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i): All exposed parts of horizontal shafting seven (7) feet or less from floor or working platform, excepting runways used exclusively for oiling, or running adjustments, shall be protected by a stationary casing enclosing shafting completely or by a trough enclosing sides and top or sides and bottom of shafting as location requires. a: On and before November 6, 2014, on the AMF Model 82-70; SN. 127058 pin setting machine, lane 8, employees retrieving bowling balls or resetting pins were exposed to inadequately guarded horizontal metal shafts are located 3' 4" from the floor, the opening is 3' 2" and the shaft is located 16 1/2" behind the opening that employees use to access the pin setting machine. b. On and before November 6, 2014, employer did not assure that employees working on AMF model 82-70 pin setting equipment on 31 lanes were protected from unguarded horizontal metal shafts inadequately guarded horizontal metal shafts are located 3' 4" from the floor, the openings were 3' 2" and the shafts were located 16 1/2" behind the opening that employees use to access the pin setting machines.
