29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprockets and chains. All sprocket wheels and chains shall be enclosed unless they are more than seven (7) feet above the floor or platform. Where the drive extends over other machine or working areas, protection against falling shall be provided. This subparagraph does not apply to manually operated sprockets. On or before 2/7/2022 the employer did not ensure that the power driven sprockets and chains on machine located on the work shop floor were properly guarded to prevent exposing employees to a caught in hazard. The exposed chain and sprockets were on machines such as. a) On or before 2/3/22 the employer did not ensure that drive sprockets and chains for the for the Wesco Knitting machine #5, were properly guarded therefore exposing employees to a caught in hazard. b) On or before 2/3/22 the employer did not ensure that drive sprockets and chains for the Wesco Knitting machine #6, were properly guarded therefore exposing employees to a caught in hazard. c) On or before 1/17/22 the employer did not ensure that drive sprockets and chains for the Wesco Knitting machine #13, were properly guarded therefore exposing employees to a caught in hazard. d) On or before 2/1/22 the employer did not ensure that drive sprockets and chains for the Wesco Knitting machine #14, were properly guarded therefore exposing employees to a caught in hazard. e) On or before 12/30/21 the employer did not ensure that drive sprockets and chains for the Wesco Knitting machine #10, were properly guarded therefore exposing employees to a caught in hazard. f) On or before 2/3/22 the employer did not ensure that drive sprockets and chains for the Wesco Knitting machine #1, were properly guarded therefore exposing employees to a caught in hazard.
