29 CFR 1910.219(b)(1):Flywheels. Flywheels located so that any part is seven (7) feet or less above floor or platform shall be guarded in accordance with the requirements of this subparagraph: (i) With an enclosure of sheet, perforated, or expanded metal, or woven wire; (iii) When the upper rim of flywheel protrudes through a working floor, it shall be entirely enclosed or surrounded by a guardrail and toeboard. On or before 2/7/22 the employer did not ensure that flywheels on presses that are under 7 feet located on the workshop floor, were properly guarded in that employees where exposed to a caught-in hazard for machines such as: a) On or before 1/31/22 the employer did not ensure that the flywheel for the Alva Allen (model # BT12-101) was properly guarded in that that back half of the guard was missing. b) On or before 1/31/22 the employer did not ensure that the flywheel for The V&O Press Co. (model missing) was properly guarded, in that the interior of the guard for the flywheel is missing. c) On or before 1/31/22 the employer did not ensure that the flywheel for EW Bliss Co. full rev. power press (model #20) was properly guarded, in that the flywheel guard is damaged, exposing parts of the flywheel. d) On or before 10/7/21 the employer did not ensure that the flywheel for L&J Press Corp. part rev. power press (1serial # 11526) was properly guarded, in that the interior of the guard for the flywheel is missing. e) On or before 1/7/22 the employer did not ensure that the flywheel for Rousselle part rev. power press (model # No 6) was properly guarded, in that the interior of the guard for the flywheel is missing. .
