29 CFR 1910.134(h)(1): Respirators were not cleaned and disinfected using the procedures in Appendix B-2 of 29 CFR 1910.134 or equivalent procedures recommended by the respirator manufacturer: a. On or about October 7, 2014, yard, the employer did not ensure a clean Clemco Apollo 600 HP supplied air abrasive blasting respirator in that cadmium was present at the inside face shield area of the respirator that an employee wore during abrasive blasting with crystalline silica abrasive which exposes employees to crystalline silica and cadmium hazards. b. On or about October 15, 2014, paint building, 3M half mask air purifying elastomeric respirators were not cleaned and disinfected using procedures in Appendix B-2 of 29 CFR 1910.134 or using procedures recommended by the respirator manufacturer. Employees who conducted spray operations were exposed to hazardous airborne chemicals that include but are not limited to isophorone diisocyanate, mineral spirits, xylene, n-butyl acetate, acetone, and parachlorobenzotrifluoride.
