29 CFR 1910.138(a):The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: a)AMTEC Corporation dba Tech Ord, a Division of AMTEC Corporation, 47600 180th Street, Clear Lake, SD 57226: On or about and at times prior to November 25, 2024, the employer did not ensure employees utilized appropriate hand protection when processing pyrotechnics in Building 105. This condition exposed employees to burn and explosion hazards. b)AMTEC Corporation dba Tech Ord, a Division of AMTEC Corporation, 47600 180th Street, Clear Lake, SD 57226: On or about and at times prior to November 25, 2024, the employer did not ensure employees used appropriate and chemically compatible hand protection when working with 2-butanone (methyl ethyl ketone) and methylene chloride solvents in Building 105. The employer provided employee nitrile based gloves which offers poor chemical compatibility for 2-butanone and methylene chloride and is prone to breakthrough. This condition exposed employees to skin sensitization, irritation and dermatitis.
