Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002D Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.134(k): The employer is required to provide effective training to employees who are required to use respirators. The training must be comprehensive, understandable, and recur annually, and more often if necessary. This paragraph also requires the employer to provide the basic information on respirators in Appendix D of this section to employees who wear respirators when not required by this section or by the employer to do so. a. At the work site the employer did not ensure that employees issued respirators had received the required respirator training before the employee was required to use the respirator in the workplace. This violation occurred on or about December 8, 2017 when employees wore 3M 6000/7000 half-face tight fitting respirators when working inside silos.
