29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances and chemical burns. a) At the facility, 70-09 45th Ave., Woodside, N.Y. -- Basement. On a daily basis employees pour / transfer, transport and use products such as, but not limited to, inks for printing and rubber products, paints, thinners, permanent adhesives, photo emulsions, and acetone to manufacture pinatas and other custom made party items, and/or to embellish / personalize pre-manufactured items. These products contain hazardous chemicals including, but not limited to, vinyl acetate, toluene, methanol, 2,2 dimethyoxypropane, naphtha, epoxy resin, butylglycolacetate, isobutyl acetate, butoxyethanol, propane, and acetone. Appropriate hand protection was no provided when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances, on or about 03/13/03. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19
