Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002C Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.454(a):The employer did not have each employee who performed work while on a scaffold trained by a person qualified in the subject matter to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards. a) On or about May 18, 2024, at a worksite located at 2565 Georgia Ave NW, 1st floor, the employees worked on a scaffold system erected near an open elevator shaft. The employer had not provided adequate training to the employees for recognizing risks while erecting, dismantling, and conducting masonry on the scaffold, as well as methods to minimize these risks. The lack of training exposes the employees to fall hazards. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
