29 CFR 1910.25(c)(3): The employer did not ensure that standard stairs have a minimum tread depth of 9.5 inches (24 cm): (a) Mount Saint Charles Academy - Stairwell adjacent to the service freight elevator serving the school kitchen: On or about 1/10/21, the employer did not ensure that the stairs had a minimum tread depth of 9.5 inches. Tread depths of between 8.5 and 9 inches exposed employees to fall hazards from slips and trips while using the stairs to access the freight elevator and outside trash dumpsters.
