29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2)(iii): The employer did not assure that each employee has been trained, as necessary, by a competent person in the use and operation of guardrail systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems, controlled access zones, and other protection to be used. On or about January 23, 2019, at 1039 Gulf Drive, Summerland Key, Florida, 33402, the employer did not ensure that employees who were engaged in roofing activity were adequately trained to: a) Recognize when equipment is damaged and needs to be removed from service; b) How to calculate fall distances when using a personal fall arrest system; and c) Recognize the hazards of working on a roof without a personal fall arrest system and/or the need to be connected to an anchor point. NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
