29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): (a) Meat Department: Employees were not required to wear adequate hand protection to protect the hands from severe cuts and lacerations from hand held knives and other meat cutting equipment, such as, but not limited to the meat grinder, as determined on September 10, 2013. (b) Meat Department: The employees were not required to wear eye protection to protect the eyes and/or hand protection to protect the hands from irritations and/or burns that could result from handling the corrosive chemicals Spartan chlorinated degreaser and SANI-T-10, as determined on September 10, 2013.
