Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.333(a)(2): "Energized parts." If the exposed live parts are not deenergized (i.e., for reasons of increased or additional hazards or infeasibility), other safety-related work practices shall be used to protect employees who may be exposed to the electrical hazards involved. Such work practices shall protect employees against contact with energized circuit parts directly with any part of their body or indirectly through some other conductive object. The work practices that are used shall be suitable for the conditions under which the work is to be performed and for the voltage level of the exposed electric conductors or circuit parts. Specific work practice requirements are detailed in paragraph (c) of this section. 2nd floor control room (Line #1) - On or about June 1, 2012, employee(s) opened the cabinet doors of six electrical panel boxes. The six electrical panel boxes contained live parts (120 VAC - 480 VAC) that were not deenergized. The cabinet doors on the six electrical panel boxes were required to remained open to balance the cooling when overheating of the indramat drives occurs. Safety-related work practices were not used while the cabinet doors of the six electrical panel boxes remained open. Employee(s) were thereby exposed to the hazards associated with live electrical parts.
