29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are - barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. On or about January 17, 2024, the employer did not ensure that the moving chain conveyor on the Dry Depositor 1 was guarded. Employees were exposed to amputation injuries while they dispense product into individual feed hoppers. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
