29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). On or about August 20th, 2023, employees were adding distilled water to the battery of powered industrial vehicle using non acid resistant nitrile gloves. Employees were exposed to corrosive substance such as sulfuric acid both their hands and body. The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, which necessitate the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
