Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.29(b)(2)(i): Midrails were not installed at a height midway between the top edge of the guiderail system and the walking-working surface: The employer is failing to ensure employees are protected from fall hazards associated working on a storage racking system. This was most recently evident during the inspection conducted on July 30, 2019 at a worksite located at 8901 Irvington Rd, Omaha, NE 68122. Employees routinely access an outdoor 2-story vehicle parts storage rack system to store or retrieve various parts. a) There is a ramp along the outer edge of the system that allows employees to roll a cart to the different levels. There is an existing rail that does not meet the requirements of a mid-rail. Distance from the top ramp to the ground is approximately 17.5 feet. b) On the 2nd level walking platform near the east side stairs there is a top rail that is 43 inches high; however, there is no mid-rail. Distance from the platform to the ground is approximately 8.8 feet.
