Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002B Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. The employer is failing to protect employees from fire and explosion hazards associated with methane gas. This was most recently documented on February 14, 2019 at the jobsite located at 3301 South State Highway FF, Springfield, Missouri. Employees were not instructed in the recognition of the hazards associated with working around methane gas with spark producing equipment and methods to mitigate those hazards.
