29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). If such hazards are present, or likely to be present, the employer shall: select, and have each affected employee use, the types of PPE that will protect the affected employees from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment, communicate selection decisions to each affected employee and select PPE that properly fits each affected employee: a) On or about July 31, 2018, the employer had not evaluated the personal protective equipment (PPE) required to be worn by employees working with Magnesium Powder. Employee work tasks involving Magnesium Powder includes, but not limited to: weighing batch quantities, adding batch quantities to the 17 cubic feet Mixer, cleaning spills and cleaning transient material in the Weighing and Production Areas.
