29 CFR 1910.1000(e): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d): On or about 5/31/17, employees buffing/sanding brass musical instrument parts were exposed to copper in excess of the TWA limit of 0.1 mg/m³, and feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d): Outside-bell sanding area: (a) An employee sanding the outsides of bells for brass musical instruments was exposed to 0.51 mg/m³ of copper as an 8-hour TWA, which is 5.1 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL). Buffing Room: (b) An employee buffing the bells of brass musical instruments was exposed to 1.98 mg/m³ of copper as an 8-hour TWA, which is 19.8 times the PEL. (c) An employee buffing brass musical instrument parts was exposed to 0.58 mg/m³ as an 8-hour TWA, which is 5.8 times the PEL.
