Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(d): Application of control. The established procedures for the application of energy control (the lockout or tagout procedures) shall cover the following elements and actions and shall be done in the following sequence: (a) Employees operating the Diamond Press Brake and the Safan Darley Press E-Brake, performed die changes, wiped down the ram, bed and other parts on the presses, swept inside the cage at the back of the presses, and entered the cages at the back of the presses to tighten bolts, without without first isolating the electric and pneumatic energy sources and then attaching lockout devices to the electrical and pneumatic energy isolating devices, were not required to: (1) turn off and shut down the machines, (2) physically locate and operate energy isolating devices in such a manner as to isolate the machine or equipment from the energy source, (3) affix lockout or tagout devices to each energy isolating device. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence, or written records.
