Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.107(e)(2): The employer did not ensure that the quantity of flammable or combustible liquids kept in the vicinity of spraying operations was the minimum required for operations and should ordinarily not exceed a supply of 1 day or one shift: (a) Ark Woodworks Inc, at 878 Baseline Place, Brighton, CO: On and preceding 4/4/16, the employer did not ensure that the quantity of flammable or combustible liquids kept in the vicinity of spraying operations was the minimum required for operations and should ordinarily not exceed a supply of 1 day or one shift. One employee sprayed Sherwin Williams Sher-Wood Water Conversion Varnish on millwork or other wood products in the spray paint booth and used lacquer thinner to clean the spray gun. The conversion varnish and lacquer thinner were flammable liquids. Flammable liquids, such as lacquer thinner, in excess of what was used in a single day, were stored in the spray booth. This condition exposed the employee to a fire hazard.
