Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1408(a)(2): The equipment's maximum working radius could get closer than 20 feet to a power line and the employer did not meet the requirements in Option (1), Option (2), or Option (3) of this section. On 21 April 2014, and at times prior thereto, a rough terrain crane with a boom arm was allowed to operate near and under an energized power line, exposing the operator and co-workers nearby to an electrical hazard of approximately 25 kV 3-phase. The employer did not have the line de-energized or grounded (Option 1); did not maintain a 20 foot clearance (Option 2); or follow the minimum clearance distance per Table A as at least 10 feet for 25 kV (Option 3).
