Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.157(g)(1): An educational program was not provided for all employees to familiarize them with the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with incipient stage fire-fighting: (a) Throughout facility - On or about February 27, 2013, where portable fire extinguishers are available for employee use, and an Emergency Action Plan has not been developed requiring the total employee evacuation, employees have not been provided with training regarding basic fire extinguisher use. Note: Applies where all employees are expected to fight fires. Abatement Note: Where extinguishers are provided but are not intended for employee use and the employer has an emergency action plan and a fire prevention plan that meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.38 and 29 CFR 1910.39 respectively, then only the requirements of paragraphs (e) and (f) of this section apply. An EAP must include but is not limited to the following elements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.38(c). A FPP must include but is not limited to the following elements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.39(c).
