Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electrical hazards: a) Eaton Electrical, Inc., did not conduct an extensive job briefing prior to the performance of work on energized 480V Switchgear at O'Hare International Airport on or about May 21, 2004 and July 12, 2004. Among others, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to comply with the 2004 Edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, Article 110, General Requirements for Electrical Safety Related Work Practices, Section 110.7(G). No abatement certification or documentation required for this violation.
