Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to potential fire hazards: a) Building 1125, north wall - There was a fire alarm station that was obstructed with 2 shovels and a vending machine. b) Building 1125, south wall - There was a fire alarm station that was not accessible because boxes were placed in front of the stations. ***ABATEMENT VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED*** Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is to remove the shovels, vending machine, and boxes, in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association 101, Life Safety Code, Section 7-6.2.6.
