29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, was not provided, used, or maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it was necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact: (a) At 112 Plugs Drive, Decatur, AL: On or about 10/19/2024, the employer failed to provide thermal protective clothing for employees working with water where thermal hazards are capable of reaching up to 340-degrees Fahrenheit at boiler #1. (b) At 112 Plugs Drive, Decatur, AL: On or about 10/19/2024, the employer failed to provide thermal protective clothing for employees working with water where thermal hazards are capable of reaching up to 340-degrees Fahrenheit at boiler #2. (c) At 112 Plugs Drive, Decatur, AL: On or about 10/19/2024, the employer failed to provide thermal protective clothing for employees working with water where thermal hazards are capable of reaching up to 340-degrees Fahrenheit at boiler #3. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
