29 CFR 1910.28(b)(11)(ii):(ii) Each flight of stairs having at least 3 treads and at least 4 risers is equipped with stair rail systems and handrails as follows: (see TABLE D-2) Stair width less than 44 inches with two open sides requires one stair rail system on each open side. a) On or before July 25, 2023, the employer did not ensure that each flight of stairs having at least 3 treads and at least 4 risers, were equipped with stair rail systems and handrails in that the staircase located next to the holding furnace on the furnace deck had two opened sides but only 1 handrail.
