29 CFR 1910.305(a)(2)(i): Temporary electrical power and lighting installation(s) 600 volts, nominal, or less were used in prohibited manners. Note: Temporary electrical power and lighting installation(s) may only be used as specified by 1910.305(a)(2)(i)(A) through 1910.305(a)(2)(i)(C). (a) Green Waste Area - On or about February 1, 2023, the employer permitted the use of temporary string lights as a substitute for permanent fixed lighting within the CONEX intermodal shipping container where flammable vapors accumulated. The string light power plug was removed, and the string light was spliced into a wall mounted outlet box where it could be operated by light switch thereby exposing employees to shock and fire hazards. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
