29 CFR 1910.133(a)(2): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee used eye protection that provided side protection when there was a hazard from flying objects. a) Pre Assembly Area : An employee was observed using a hand held grinder to cut a steel chain while wearing prescription glasses with a plastic slide on film. The film did not remain in place creating an opening along the side of the glasses. Observed on or about 6/21/22. b) Fabrication Area: An employee was observed using a drill press while wearing prescription glasses with a plastic slide on film. The film did not remain in place creating an opening along the side of the glasses. Observed on or about 6/9/22. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
