Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:

29 CFR 1926.503(c): "Retraining." When the employer had reason to believe that any affected employee who had already been trained did not have the understanding and skill required by paragraph (a) of this section, the employer did not retrain each such employee. The employer is failing to ensure that each employee has understood fall protection systems and equipment, as necessary, by a competent person on the use and operation of guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems, controlled access zones, and other protection to be used. The condition was most recently observed on or about 11/08/2021 at a commercial building located at 801 Assembly Parkway in Fenton, MO. Geissler Roofing Company, Inc. had not identified employees who did not understand fall protection requirements and retrain them on one or more methods of fall protection to protect employees while working on low-sloped roofs. The employees were installing roofing materials on the roof, which was approximately 42 feet above the ground, without the proper use of personal fall arrest systems, a warning line system and a safety monitoring system.
