29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1):The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment: Facilities at 940 and 950 Wellington Avenue, Cranston RI: On or about August 18, 2021, a Personal Protective Equipment assessment of the workplace was not performed to determine if hazards were present which required the use of PPE, such as, but not limited to; eye, face, neck, arm, torso and hearing protection. a.) Employees in the Corian shop (bldg. 940) were exposed to nuisance dust from cutting Corian countertops. Employees were exposed to flammable chemicals including, but not limited to, adhesives and denatured alcohol, and noise from various power tools such as table saws, routers, sanders, vacuums and dust collection systems. b.) Employees in the stone fabrication shop (bldg. 950) were exposed to silica dust, flammable chemicals including, but not limited to, acetone, physical hazards from moving heavy stone countertops, and noise from stone cutting and polishing equipment including, but not limited to, CNC machines, grinders and pneumatic water-fed stone polishers.
