29 CFR 1910.23(b)(8): The employer did not ensure that ladders are used only for the purposes for which they were designed. a. On or about March 11, 2021 and at times prior, at a work platform of the metal sorting line where an inclined trash conveyor passed, the employer did not ensure a step ladder was used with the ladder side rails fully extended. To access a work platform, employees climbed the the step ladder when the ladder side rails were collapsed and were exposed to falls from a ladder. b.
