Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.95(a): Personal protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, protective shields and barriers, were not provided, used, when it was necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation, or physical contact: A.) Joseph McCormick Construction Company, Inc. - On or about 8/25/20, and at times prior thereto, the temperature of tar/asphalt cement was approximately 250 degrees when it was leaving the application wand. Thermal aprons, thermal clothing and heat protective gloves were not being provided and utilized when employees were utilizing the Crafco 1000 Series tar buggy to work around and with tar/asphalt cement. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
